MEC1308-NU is an I/O controller for notebooks.

It incorporates a high performance 8051 based keyboard system controller with 64 Kbyte RAM, 1 Kbyte boot ROM and 16 byte battery registers.

The 64K RAM is loaded via the HOST/8051 SPI memory interface, which can be configured in the switched SPI flash configuration or in the flash configuration of the shared serial peripheral interface (SPI). 

It has four PS/2 ports; a 2-pin UART compatible with 16C550A for the depuration port; a consumer infrared receiver for Vista, of controllers I2C/SMBus style 8584 with two selectable ports per controller; y a Serial IRQ peripheral agent interface.

MEC1308-NU tiene dos energy plans separated to provide system energy management functions and instantaneous activation.

Furthermore, the MEC1308-NU incorporates a sophisticated power control circuit (PCC).
